Adel Abdessemed


Born 1971,Constatine, Algeria.
The artist lives and works in New York, U.S.A.

Graduated from Fine Arts Academy of Lyon, Lyon, France in 1988.

After being born and raised in the Islamic world, the artist moved to France in 1995. He brings problems of the contemporary society from the perspectives of a minority as well as the joys living in this world.

He exhibited "EXIL" (exile in French), neon installations scattered around the venue, and "Wall Drawings," a work made of barbwire placed at the Arsenale venue, at the Venice Biennale in 2007 and received The Seventh Benesse Prize. He plans to plans to present works Naoshima and Echigotsumari in Japan. He also plans to exhibit works at the Modern Art Oxford in England in 2009. He is one of the most watched artists in the world.
